Sailing Journal Day 3 (March 22nd)

Woke up a little stiff. The fog was still thick in the morning. We moved blind with the compass and gps to lead the way. The fog lasted half the day. We motored to the mouth of the Delaware Bay and turned into the Atlantic.

Sailing Journal Day 2 (March 21st)

Slept Amazing. I don't think I woke up once. I was the first one out of bed and poked my head out of the cabin. The water was calm and a thick fog was in the air.

Elton John

2 friends and I rode our bikes to the Elton John concert. We were sitting back stage with no one around.  30 feet from him, I could have hit him with a tomato. I should have, for the terrible performance he was putting on. But I gotta say, he looked great in the sparkling suit he was wearing.

We got a job as stage hands after the show. It was funny when i looked over and steve crandall was taking apart his piano. we just hung out and talked to all the crazy people there. It's always fun to experience things that you wouldn't normally do. For me, thats what its all about.

"so we were hanging out back stage at the Elton John show...."

Sailing

I have always wanted to do a long sailing trip. Other than ripping a tiny sail boat in a lake, I have never really been sailing. At least nothing that i would consider to be actual sailing. There is something about the solitude on the open water that interests me.

city bikes

I have been coming to Richmond for a few years now. For some reason, I hadn't ever pedaled around the city on my bike. My exploring never took me down town. This stay in Richmond has been a lot different. I have been trying to use my time to pedal around and explore as much as i can. Nothin like cruising around a city with your friends, talking shit, and laughing all day.

CHRISTIAN HEWITT

West Coast In The Rear View

I jumped in a van with three friends. The plan was to drive straight through from Santa Cruz CA. to Richmond VA.. The other three had already been driving in the van for over 2 weeks, so they had their sites set on their own beds. Unfortunately, for me, I was rested and ready for the open road. We Left monday morning and rolled into Richmond on wednesday afternoon. Here's a few snaps from the blurry 3 days.

Winging it!

I try not to make plans.  I'm bad at it. When i do make plans, they usually don't work out. This is what i've learned about plans. when plans fall through.... its an opportunity to Wing it. And i prefer winging it over planning it. Unfortunately, this means i go into planned situations, hoping plans fail.
Last winter I spent 5 months in Austin Texas. I went home for the summer and planned my return back to Austin as soon as it cooled off. I bought a plane ticket to Austin for the beginning of january. Then i got a call from Steve, asking if i wanted to go on a road trip to Savannah GA. It was for the same time that i booked my flight back to Austin, I didn't get on the plane. I was winging it.

Coffee Tables

You can tell a lot about a person by looking at the table in front of the couch.

Santa Cruz

I'm going to miss Santa Cruz. I've been here for over a month now and made so many new friends. I will be back here to retire soon. Thank you everyone for everything. This was the best trip I have been on.

In search for the giant cup of coffee

The trip home is getting started. we are in search of the worlds giant cup of coffee. Animal Chin Coffee. We looked for it on US 1. Found this again.

Crandall asked Ron Wilkerson if he knew where the giant cup of coffee was.

He checked the cargo pockets of his JNCO's but didn't find it.

Then we partied at the Santa Cruz bike park. I saw the same tank top in a few different colors, Nun-chucks were in full effect, but still no giant cup of coffee

No giant cup of coffee here. Just food on the grill and Jack Jr.

Where is it?

California Love

Soaking up my last days in California. It's been perfect. Crandall, Paul, and Kenny made it out here a few days ago and i met up with them in San Francisco. They were all hung over. Paul was puking when i walked into the house.

It's nice to be back in the Vandal. It will be my home away from home again for the next few weeks as we drive from here back to Richmond, VA.
